The father of our nation, Quaid-e-Azam Mohammad Ali Jinnah, has famously said, “Education is a matter of life and death to our nation… Without education it is complete darkness and with education it is light.”
Taking up the office of Chairman of the Board of Governors of Namal University Mianwali is a great privilege, honor, and responsibility for me. Not only that, I also consider it a sacred trust.
Namal is an institution that represents not just a place of learning, teaching, and research, but a powerful idea: that talent, when given the right opportunity, can transform lives and uplift entire communities. The University was founded on the inspiring vision of Mr. Imran Khan, a vision rooted in the belief that no accomplished student should be denied access to quality higher education due to socioeconomic constraints. Today, that vision continues to guide us as we open doors for young minds from across Pakistan, especially from underserved regions, to gain this access and build a better future.
What makes Namal truly special is not only its academic environment, but its purpose. Here, education is not confined to the classroom, library, and laboratory – it is about shaping character, building confidence, and instilling a sense of responsibility towards the larger society. We aim to develop individuals who are not only skilled professionals, but also thoughtful leaders and responsible citizens, who can play a transformative role in Pakistan’s progress and development. In so doing, our approach is the one historically adopted by the greatest centers of higher learning across the globe: we do not teach our students what to think, but how to think.
As we look ahead, our focus is clear: to strengthen the quality of education, promote meaningful research, and build strong connections with industry and global partners. At the same time, we remain committed to ensuring that the University grows in a sustainable and responsible manner, so that it continues to benefit generations to come.
I intend to be as active as possible in the role entrusted to me, by regularly interacting with University and Departmental leadership, along with our faculty, staff, students, alumni, partners, and supporters. Accordingly, I deeply appreciate the dedication of our leadership, faculty, staff, students, and alumni, whose collective efforts are driving the University forward. I am equally grateful to our partners and supporters, who believe in this mission and continue to stand with us.
Namal University is more than an institution. It is a promise of hope, opportunity, progress, and light, as envisioned by our country’s founding fathers, and by our founding Chairman, Mr. Imran Khan. Together, we will continue to honour this promise and take it beyond the horizon.
